Many of the psalms found in the Bible are shocking in their honesty, as the writers pour out their anguish and confusion to God about the suffering of His people. They highlight the importance of raw honesty in our own relationships with God. As we continue through Lent, we will use some of these psalms of lament to reflect on the tough experiences and feelings that we need to bring before God, if we are going to have an honest relationship with him, and receive his loving response to our deepest questions and needs.

There has been much confusion about the relationship between Christianity and politics. Examples of this done badly have persuaded some that they should be kept separate. The Bible, however, insists that our faith must be integrated with every part of our lives and this world. Having explored in January what the Bible has to say about politics, in February we turn to look more broadly at what Christianity has to say about the important political issues currently facing our nation and world.

The figure of David is a crucial one in the Bible - supremely, through the way that he is used to look ahead to his descendant, Jesus. This Advent series will use the books of Chronicles, Isaiah and Jeremiah to look at what David was meant to stand for and how this can further inform us about what the child born in 'the town of David' and 'from David's line' came to do.

The rise of David is a vital new chapter in the biblical story as God calls the shepherd-king to be his answer to the disasters that have befallen the people of Israel and to put his plan for the world back on track. The way that this works out in the story of David, however, is deeply mysterious, and ultimately points further ahead to 'great David's greater son' in Jesus who came to be the fulfilment of all of his purposes.

The church isn’t just a building or an institution - it’s the people of God. Cultivating strong relationships within this community is crucial, if we are to better reflect his truth and grace to each other and the world around us. In Matthew 18, Jesus discusses some of the characteristics of healthy relationships, which can guide us as we seek to serve God and each other more fully.

With the terrible situation in Gaza so much in the news, it is important for Christians to reflect on what the Bible has to say about the role of Israel and its neighbours in God's plan. During September, we’ll have a series of talks exploring some of the biblical and historical factors involved, and thinking about how we should respond to the situation in Israel and Gaza today.

One of the ways that Jesus came to bring us 'life in its fullness' was through the purpose and direction that can come to our lives when we join in his work. During this series, we’ll be joined by guest speakers from Home for Good, Christians Against Poverty, and Hope into Action, as we will explore different practical ways in which God might be calling us to do this - through our care for animals, children and those facing debt or homelessness.

After celebrating the significance of Jesus’ resurrection during Easter, we now turn our attention to the Holy Spirit as we move into Ascension and Pentecost. These events remind us that the Holy Spirit is a gift from the risen and ascended Jesus, helping us experience a taste of God’s future new creation right now. In this series, we’ll explore what that means, and look at how the Spirit guides the church to represent God's saving presence in the world.

Easter is not merely a single day of celebration; it is intended to be a fifty-day journey dedicated to reflecting on the resurrection and its profound implications for our faith. Throughout this series, we will delve into the true meaning of resurrection, exploring its roots in the Old Testament and how the resurrection of Jesus leads to the promise of resurrection for all who belong to Him.
As Christians, we often underestimate the importance of resurrection as a recurring theme throughout the Bible. In this series, we aim to address this oversight by uncovering the clarity, direction, purpose, and power that the resurrection offers to the lives of all who follow Jesus.

Lent is traditionally a time of focusing on repentance - the act of 'turning around' towards God. During this series, we’ll look at what we can learn from examples of repentance as a theme that runs throughout the Bible, and explore how we can make it a greater reality in our lives.

A key feature of Luke's gospel is its emphasis on Jesus' interactions with those who were least valued by society, including the poor, tax collectors, people with disabilities, and women. During this series we will examine what stands out about the way Jesus relates to these people, and the insight that this gives us into the nature of the kingdom of God that we are called to proclaim and embody.

Christmas is a strange mixture of all sorts of traditions and customs. But, one way or another, they can all point us towards Jesus. This year we will consider how the carols we sing, the festive lights and the darkness, the joy and fun but also the sorrow associated with this time of year can do exactly that.
(Note: the below services are, respectively, the Carols by Candlelight service, and the Midnight Communion Service.)
