The Servant Songs of Isaiah

The Servant Songs of Isaiah

The Servant Songs in Isaiah 40-55 stand among the most significant passages in the Old Testament. A notable shift occurs here: the figure of an anointed King, prominent in the earlier chapters, gives way to that of a Servant, called to fulfil Israel's vocation and bring about God's purposes. Christians naturally recognise Jesus as the one who fulfilled this role, but a closer examination of the four Songs offers deeper insight into the nature of his calling and mission - and what it means for how we seek to live for God in our own daily lives.
